at least one year. puppy foods that are specific to large breed dogs take into consideration their growth patterns, so keep them on it until they are at least one year old.
1 year
I would continue to feed puppy food until at least a year old to help support the constant growth and change of their skeletal and muscular system.
A small breed dog is done growing at about a year. A larger breed dog takes until about a year and a half or 2 years.
Feed a adult food at 12 months, purina dog/puppy chow is not a good food. Read the ingredient list and the first three ingredients are important— http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ Stay away from food that has corn and a lot of fillers.Look at this site for the reviews on dogs food.
She should make the switch to adult food at about one to one and a half years.
12-15 months of age is when the dog will be at full size. also if the dog starts to get obease after about a year its time to switch to reg adult dog food.the major diff. in puppy and adult food is the fat content. growing puppys need way more fat to grow with as they burn alot of energy growing.
I feed my Golden Retrievers puppy food until they are one year old. Then I switch over to adult dog food.
Though, technically, larger breed dogs continue to grow past a year, a lot of this is more in maturity and brains, rather than size, which is why I do the switch over at a year old.
Actually right now is a good time..puppy food has high protein and can cause the pup to grow to fast(causeing the bones to be sore)…regular dog food is fine! If you want research it..
Please what ever you do do not feed your dog that!!! i fed it to my dog for about 3 months and did some research on the dog food its nothing but road killed animals/ corn which your dogs cannot digest. its truly bad for her. i switched to Blue Buffalo, its a healthy food with meat and vegetables and fruit. by the way if you see a cute IAMS commercial or pedigree, or your vet tells you to feed her something different look at the ingridents, vets get payed to make you buy crappy dog food
and stop feeding her puppy food when shes 10 months old =]
