Hi! I work for Iams. Maybe she likes our food because it smells and tastes good to her. Our nutritional philosophy is based upon fundamental and unique scientific research in protein, fiber, carbohydrate, and fat nutrition that has resulted in numerous nutritional breakthroughs. The ingredients we use are tailored to the nutritional needs of dogs and cats. We use only high-quality animal protein sources in our formulations. We don’t use artificial flavorings, or other questionable fillers. Our formulas are complete and balanced to meet the specific life stage and lifestyle nutritional needs of your dog. That’s odd, where does she get purina or iam, definitely not good nutrition.

Stick with the Canidae - add a little canned or some white meat, boneless, skinless chicken and rice. All 6 of mine love this combination.

same reason we like junk food better then real food sometimes.

My dog loved Iams before since that was what he ate pretty much his whole life before we adopted him. Now, long switched on Innova, if I put Iams in his bowl because we’re out, he’ll sniff it and look at me like, “Do I have to eat this?”

iww not my doggy. she is sooooo picky. i think its cause she is allergic to all the fillers in iams and purina. besides that when she eats all that crap she poops all over the house.

My dog likes the canned mixed in as well - I use super premium canned like Evangers, Wellness, or Merrick and mix it in the dry. I do feed grain-free (Orijen or Instinct) and my dog is so much healthier for it. Don’t believe the crap you haer about Purina products being nutritionally sound. The old rule of thumb still holds: garbage in, garbage out.

They treat there food with a coating that makes it more desirable to taste, and it has a bunch of junk in it that pets find appealing, but as we all no it is not good for them, and usually what is not good for us we want same with pets..

What is wrong with Purina–no recalls.

Seriously–all who gave me a thumbs down, what is wrong with Purina dog chow?

That’s what I thought. You guys are just mean, you don’t know any more about dogs than any one else here.

I agree. I bought some of the fancy dog foods and my dogs sniffed and walked away. I spent a fortune at stores like Petsmart but my dogs perfer the cheaper stuff….

    sugar in the food

I think it’s the same thing as humans liking fattening unhealthy food.. it just tastes better than healthy food. Dogs are like children (kinda), you have to make sure they eat the right things and are healthy… canidae is definitely the better food and will keep yout little girl healthier, but she wants stuff that tastes better… like mcdonalds compared to salads…

Don’t you prefer junk foods?? =)

It smells like food and they don’t have to hunt for it. I think they would rather have what you are eating but they have to settle for what you give them.

all humans like foods and some foods they don’t like…or some of us just have a favorite food..all dogs have there own favorite food..i tried feeding my good healthy kinds like the vegetable and the expensive brands….she ate it but kinda slow and didn’t really like them..so I gave her the purina puppy chow…first the brown and dark brown kind..she ate a little better..and then I tried the colorful purina puppy chow….she ate like she hadn’t ate for days..I gave her lots and she ate all of it in like 3 minutes…but I thought that was unexeptable so I kept changing the brands and getting random food and making her eat it and now she eats all of it the same..(gulping it down)…but her fave will always be the colorful puppy chow

That’s funny. My labs love to eat dirt and sticks too.

But they don’t know about purina because they’ve never had it.

Dogs will eat whatever you give them. If you don’t buy it, they can’t eat it…

It’s like junk food is to us.

same reason why kids would pick McDonald’s food over a nice restaurant, and we all know how healthy that is would you let your kid eat that stuff every day for every meal?? The cheap foods add salt, meat fats and other flavorings to attract the dogs to it.

I have a golden that loves those “ole Roy” bone things. She goes over and eats them with the beagles across the way. I think it is the grease in them.
